What is Multimedia?

Multimedia is a form of communication that combines various forms of different content, such as text, audio, images, animation or video. These forms of different content are combined into a single interactive presentation. Popular examples of multimedia are animated videos, video podcasts and audio slideshows.

Among us - The video game, Among Us is a great example, because of the use of animation, music and text. Based of the pictures below you will be see the very simplistic but very aesthetically pleasing animations, which allows for a more comfortable experience. During the gameplay itself you will be able to here music playing in the background, which gives off quite and creepy dark vibe, which keeps you intrigued but on edge at the same time. Also during the gameplay you will notice the text on the left hand side of your display. This text is easy to read and gives great direction of the tasks at hand.

The Lord of the Rings - The Rings of Power Trailer.

Watching this trailer you can see the fantastic use of multimedia which goes to show how this is another great example, because of the visual effects and the music within it. Watching the trailer you will notice not only the visual effects such as CGI (Computer Generated Imagery), but there are the visual effects of when the video cuts to a different scene. Reason for the is to build intensity and to grab the audiences knowledge. The music within the trailer is also there to help the visual effects, build on the intensity and immersion and to keep the audience intrigued.

Example 3

BBC Bitesize Website - The BBC Bitesize website is another great example of multimedia usage. As you can see in the image below, when you first navigate to the website, there is an instant burst of colour which is used to grab the audiences attention. On the homepage you have multiple buttons and tabs which and linked to separate pages to help you easily navigate around the site itself.

Whilst you are using the website and answer revision questions there are many different visual and or audio ques to either celebrate you have got the correct answer or to let you know if you have made a mistake. The imagery on the website is also very well thought out to help grab and draw in the attention of different target audiences based of their own interests.
